Writing Effective Narrative Report
7 hours, classroom, appraiser continuing education
This seminar is designed to enhance the skills an appraiser uses to write and organize a narrative report.
Objectives
- Identify steps in the appraisal process.
- Relate appraisal process to contents of report.
- Identify problems associated with poor or ineffective word choices.
- Identify trite or overused expressions.
- Review parts of speech.
- Identify incorrect pronoun selection.
- Recognize appropriate use of verbs.
- Review sentence structure.
- Review effective use of modifiers.
- Identify problems associated with prepositional phrases.
- Recognize merit of parallel sentence construction.
- Practice variety in sentence structure.
- Identify effective sentence structure.
- Review rules of correct punctuation.
- Review paragraph types and function.
- Organize the information in an appraisal.
- Review reporting requirements of SR 2.
- Review reporting options under SR 2-2.
- Review parts of typical narrative report.
- Review examples of various sections of narrative reports.
- Review ways to determine what should be included in a report.
- Review examples of various descriptions.
- Identify appropriate components of highest and best use.
- Review criteria for appropriate analyses.
- Review examples of ways to present analyses.
- Review appropriate concepts for reconciliation.
This seminar is approved by the Nebraska Real Property Appraiser Board for 7 hours of continuing education credit. Nebraska number C2985.
This seminar fulfills the Nebraska Real Property Appraiser Board requirement for a 7 hour report writing seminar.
Appraisers in other states may be eligible to receive continuing education credit and they should check with their state appraiser board.
The approval by the Nebraska Real Property Appraiser Board is honored by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission for continuing education for sales persons and brokers and by the Nebraska Department of Property Assessment and Taxation for continuing education for Assessor recertification.
